Abstract

The BIBCM-ID (Bit-Interleaved Block Coded Modulation with Iterative Decoding) system, introduced in 9, can be applied to real-time wireless services. However, in order for this system to ensure good quality, in addition to selecting good channel encoding schemes and appropriate signal mapping, constructing interleavers of good quality with acceptable complexity is an important issue. A generalized block overall interleaver is constructed in this paper, which improves the system quality by up to 0.5dB at BER=10-6 compared to the generalized block inline interleaver. In addition, at this BER value, the BIBCM-ID system shows nearly no floor error phenomena when employing the new interleaver. In addition, the paper analyzes and constructs formulas for calculating the bit error probabilities of the BIBCM-ID system using various interleavers. The simulation results demonstrate that, for BER values ≤10-6, the bit error rates obtained from the simulations approach the theoretically calculated results through the derived analytical formulas presented in the paper. © 2023 IEEE.
