Abstract

In this study, we investigate a simple method to reduce the mutual coupling between two planar inverted-F antennas (PIFAs). The method shows that by using a parasitic element (PE) which is linked with a bridge line (BL) and loaded upon the PIFAs, good impedance matching and low mutual coupling around resonant frequency can be obtained without the necessity of adjusting dimensions of the PIFAs. This method is also expected to be an effective method to reduce mutual coupling of the larger PIFA arrays in future works. © 2019 Antenna Branch of Chinese Institute of Electronics.
