Abstract

The paper presents the results of a study into the conditions of open-pit coal mining in the states of Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico in the rocky Moun- tain region of the United States. remote sensing studies and analytical calcula- tions revealed the number of mining and haulage machines working in the coal pits, as well as determined the annual volume of coal production in each state. Satellite imagery and analytical calculations reveal the total (75 million tonnes of coal per year) production potential of the coal mining companies. © 2021 Ugol' Journal Edition, LLC.
