Abstract

Synclinal coal deposits that are characterized with two commercial seams are developed in the Krasnoyarsk Krai (Russia) and the Quang Nam Province (Vietnam) using the open-pit mining methods. The mining operations are currently in the syncline hinge and will proceed up the coal seams dip. In this respect, calculations of the bench slopes parameters are considered relevant and necessary with due account for changes in the mining and geological structure of the deposits as the mining operations are progressing in the open pit. As the calculations have shown, there currently exists a decrease in the safety factor of the bench slopes and of the open-pit wall in general, which should be taken into account when justifying the mode of mining operations. © I.V.
