Skin friction along with pressure and temperature is an important parameter in fluid mechanics. This study presents the results of skin-friction patterns on axisymmetric boattail surfaces by a sub-grid measurement technique. The skin-friction results indicate that detailed flow fields on the surface can be obtained when numerical parameters are selected appropriately. The effect of freestream velocity on the skin-friction streamlines and skin-friction magnitude was also discussed in detail. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
