Scientists have recently conducted thorough investigations on tert-butylcalix6arene and its derivatives owing to their ability to form complexes with radioactive elements for applications in radioactive decontamination. Current research presents the result of synthesising compounds 1,3,5-trimethoxy-2,4,6-tri (carboxylic acid)-4-tert-butylcalix6arene and evaluates the influence of this compound on the decontamination efficiency of a new skin decontamination (SD) kit developed by Lequidon laboratory. Decontamination effectiveness for short-lived radionuclides: metal (134Cs) and non-metallic (131I) determined by in vivo method. Adding 1% of 4-tert-butyl calix6arene derivative significantly enhanced the efficiency of the radioactive decontamination solution (SD). © 2024 Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers.
