The research on the processing of Electrical Discharge Machining has much attention. The scientists have found solutions to improve machining efficiency, one of which is the rotary tool method. In this study has investigated the influence of tool rotation on roughness of surfaces in semi-finishing and final-finishing, the role of rotary tool is explained to be clear. In addition, the surface roughness by the rotary tool method is evaluated and compared with the surface roughness by conventional EDM method. The results show that the roughness of surfaces by the rotary tool method is improved as compared to the surface roughness of conventional EDM method, at Srt = 500 Rpm the surface roughness is improved the best, with an improvement of 33.25% at Ton = 50 µs; Ip = 2A. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.
